EVE Online buddy system goes gender neutral
The
popular buddy system in EVE Online is getting a politically correct name
change. The massive space MMO next update will feature a change to the name of
its free invite trial program from "Buddy system" to "Associate
Invitation".
The
new gender neutral name is a response from mounting player complaints that address the overly masculine term "Buddy". A company spokesperson cited growing number of Millennial's and Hipsters in the Eve Online ranks that demand their virtual community to more closely resemble their real world community. A Young EVE Online player remarked that the Buddy system didn't really fit her friends gender identity and that a game set in the future should really be more progressive.
Gamilon Magazine reached out to other players, clans and groups for comment, but at this time has only heard the silence from the empty vacuum of space.
Updates
to this story will be provided as information becomes available to Gamilon Magazine.
