New York street gang the Baseball Furies blame steroid use and competitive pressure on violent behavior

Legendary New York Street gang the Baseball Furies blame steroid use and competitive pressure on past violent behavior.  The Furies former gang leader, who wished to be nameless due to his current job and family situation said that "time and a whole lot of therapy" has helped him realize the error of his ways.

"frankly I'm lucky to be alive. At the time we were in a really tough amateur division struggling to make the playoffs. Balancing baseball and being an active street gang just pushed us over the edge."

"After a run in with a rival gang the Warriors  in 1979 I ended up in the hospital and reevaluated my life and started my journey to loving myself and not hiding behind a mask."

The gang dissolved in the early 1980's, but is still revered in contemporary gang mythology. Gamilon Magazine  considers his story a grand slam.
