Grand Theft Auto 5: The Game That Just Won't Die

Grand Theft Auto 5 is the game that just wont die. The six year old open world action adventure game just past the 116 million units sold, something that just doesn't happen in video games.  Almost all games sell most of their units during the first few months of release. GTA 5 however, has sold  105 million copies over six years after its first 11 million copies sold  during the first month of it's release.

Sales of GTA 5 are largely due to its high replay value. Rockstar Games have never let the game get stale with regular updates and free expansions. GTA Online regular players is up 23% from its highest point ever with the latest Diamond Casino update.

As it stands now Grand Theft Auto 5 has made 6 billion dollars with 116 million copies sold. To put that into perspective the top selling album of all time is Michael Jackson's Thriller selling 47 million copies and Star Wars 460 million in ticket sales together fall well short of  GTA 5.

Rockstar has promised "many more updates"to the game through 2020 and won't stop adding to the game even as it works on the much anticipated GTA 6, rumored for a next gen console release.

Grand Theft Auto 5 continues to be the game that just won't die.
