CONTROVERSY OVER VERHOVEN'S 'STARSHIP TROOPERS' PERSISTS OVER NEARLY A QUARTER CENTURY!

With the release of the 1997 Sci/Fi Feature Film (the afore mentioned 'Starship Troopers') the thought has been raised by many... 'THIS is not 'Starship Troopers'!?!

It seems that many members of the Robert Heinlein Society have remarked on the amount of points of similarity between the book & the theatric release... as in there are next to none!

'Now in their defense, there are some things the film and book do have in common' stated Norton Bombstein, of the National Fanboy Society. 'The main character's name was Johnny Ricco & he did at one point reside in South America! As for the rest... eh!'

Now that is not to say the film does not enjoy a large fan base among Sci/Fi Fandom... but many feel that perhaps they should have stuck with there original title 'Bug Hunt at Outpost Nine'!

'YOUR A BUG HUNT AT OUTPOST NINE' retorted an outspoken member of the Pro-Verhoeven Camp! 'LOOK! Does the Film have Starships??? YES! Does it have Troopers!?! YES!!! What MORE do you want!?!'

Ultimately, it was decided by members of both sides to table the argument for the moment and focus on more troubling issues... Like why Columbia Tri-Star's 'Godzilla' did not have Godzilla!
