Florida postal service commissioner said while we can sympathize with people's deep feeling of connection to Margaritaville we need a actual residence. Every year we process hundreds of thousands of pieces of mail that is undeliverable due to Margaritaville being a fictional place and having no actual zip code.
Key West's unofficial Conch Republic responded to the state's announcement by claiming it was political motivated gerrymandering and offering squatting rights to any tourist in Margaritaville or Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants. "We feel in the Conch Republic that people should feel free to follow their dreams in anyway they feel in any place they feel, real or not."
