Silent Hill's fog problem blamed on global warming
WEST VIRGINIA - Researchers at the Institute for Global Environmental Studies say that the town of Silent Hill's notorious fog problem is a result of global warming, not some supernatural evil force.
The fog problem first gained international attention in the 2000's with the popular Silent Hill video game franchise. In these games the player must navigate the towns eerie fog problem while dealing with the town's strange population.
This fog, it turns out is a result of global warming. The medium temperature in Silent Hill has been rising steadily since the 1980's and due to it's elevation, geographical location and carbon particulates it has become a perfect storm for fog. In scientific terms the town's fog density or meteorological optical range has fallen to a yearly average of 20 meters which is considered creepy pea soup.
The Silent Hill Chamber of Commerce has embraced the fog calling it a blessing, turning the town into a tourist attraction that draws
thousands of visitors to experience not only the fog, but the town's hospitality. Nearby Lakeside Amusement Park in Paleville has a Silent Hill festival every October to celebrate the fog and all things Silent Hill.
So if you're planning on a visit to Silent Hill, remember your map, a flashlight and radio tuned to static, because it turns out these thing really do help you find your way around, with minimal harm to you and others.
