MAD Magazine calling it quits after 67 years

No, this is no joke. MAD magazine last issue will be this August. After 67 years of gross out humor, Spy vs. Spy, satire of popular culture, movies parodies and celebrity lampooning, Alfred E Neuman and his "usual gang of idiots" will be closing shop.

The popular satire magazine  stared in 1952 as a comic book and went on to become a  two million strong readership base of kids everywhere. MAD Magazine literary created the satiric comic format.

"We have influenced or entertained a great many people who are now grown and introduced it to their children,” MAD cartoonist Al Jaffee told the Wasington Post. "Its mostly nostalgia now".

After the August issue MAD magazine will be releasing reprints of old issues until subscriber obligations are finished. Also, Warner Brothers MAD's owners will be doing one offs and specialty issues for comic book stores and conventions, but will contain no new content.

Although MAD Magazine is closing its influence is still felt everywhere from modern memes to public media. Including this tiny magazine. Farewell and thank you for all the laughs
